李崇望 - Li Chong Wang

       李崇望先生一九三五年四月出生,笔名佘海,中国山西省襄恒县人。一九六五年毕业于中国音乐学院作曲系,国家一级作曲家,享受中国国务院特殊津贴。中国音乐家协会理事。中国民族管弦乐学会常务理事。武警天津总队文工团名誉团长、艺术指导。原山西省音乐家协会副主席,山西省歌舞剧院院长,后调天津歌舞剧院任业务副院长

       他从事音乐创作五十多年,其中笛子独奏曲《塔塔尔族舞曲》、《高原风光》及女声独唱曲《山沟沟里开花千里香》、民族管弦乐大合奏《大得胜》等都分别由中国唱片厂灌制唱片在全国发行。由人民音乐出版社出版,中央电台及各省市电台经常播放。一九八三年至一九九零年在山西省歌舞剧院担任院长期间,直接领导并参与总体策划、作曲的山西民间歌舞《黄河儿女情》、山西民俗系列舞蹈《黄河一方土》演出后轰动全国。一九九零年被评为中央电视台"星光奖"一等奖。"九零年上海艺术节"花冠文化大奖。一九九二年获中央文化部"文华奖"等。一九九四年十二月由新加坡南洋艺术学院狮城华乐团在维多利亚音乐厅举办"海河风情音韵" — 李崇望民族器乐作品音乐会。随后被聘为南洋艺术学院狮城华乐团驻团作曲家。在从事民族器乐及声乐的创作外,又为大型交响乐、大型歌剧、舞蹈、电影、电视剧等进行作曲。创作的一千多部作品中,有五十多部作品在国家、省、市级比赛中获奖。一九九五年十月在天津音乐厅由天津市文化局等单位举办"海河风情音韵"音乐会,各大报刊都发有评论。一九九六年为电影《刘胡兰》作品获得好评。一九九七年十月,山西省文化厅在太原举办李崇望民族交响音乐会《长城·黄河》反响强烈。

        一九九八年十二月和一九九九年三月在新加坡维多利亚音乐厅,由狮城华乐团演出李崇望编曲的中国山西民歌套曲《山坡坡上的情歌》和交响音画《圣·境》获得好评。

       李崇望先生在中国已完成十二集电视连续剧《郭兰英》的作曲。中央电视台播放后,反响强烈。

        五十多年来他多次率团和随团参加出访演出,曾到过朝鲜、阿富汗、埃及、叙利亚、捷克、前苏联、日本、泰国、新加坡、香港等国家和地区,为国家争得了荣誉。

       他的事迹被收入《中国当代音乐家名人词典》、《世界名人优秀人才大典》、《中国音乐家名录》、《天津市当代专家名人录》、《中华人物词典》、《东方之子》。


Wang Cheng Quan

Wang Cheng Quan is a first-rated composer from China. His extensive oeuvre consists of choral, dance and orchestral pieces, as well as productions for the stage, television and radio. He has taken up numerous positions in institutions throughout China after graduating from the Zhengzhou Institute of Art and the Shanghai Music Academy. These positions include Resident Composer and Conductor of the Henan Broadcasting Performing-Arts Troupe, as well as Deputy Head of the Department of Directing, Resident Composer, and Vice-President of the Henan Academy of Dance and Drama. He is also the Vice-President of Henan Chior Association and sits on the judging panel of numerous Henan artistic festivals and conferences.

He was appointed guest professor in Huanghe S & T College in August 2005 to head the university's music composition faculty and conducts classes on song writing and composition techniques. He was awarded the coveted honour - Huanghe S &T College Honourable Lecturer for his teaching efforts and guidance rendered to his students.

He is currently the honourable chairperson and resident composer of Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts City Chinese Orchestra and advisor of Shangyin Music School (Singapore).

He has composed numerous works of diversified formats and genres such as: chorus, chamber ensemble, children's plays, fairy tales, television serials, radio plays, symphony and Chinese classical music. He has been included in "China Musicians Encyclopedia" in recognition of his artistic achievements and contributions to the development of the arts.

Instructor's Profile  

Tay Soon Dee

Tay Soon Dee is currently the concertmaster and Dizi instructor of the City Chinese Orchestra, as well as one of the founding members of the Singapore Chinese Instrumental Music Association.

Tay taught himself to play the Dizi and Erhu as a child, and went on to seek guidance from several masters, including Erhu maestro Liu Ming Yuan, Dizi maestro Lu Chun Ling and Erhu artistes/educators Wang Yi and Xiang Zu Ying. This has enabled him to be a specialist in both string and bamboo flute instruments.

In 1983, Tay joined the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation Chinese Orchestra (the current City Chinese Orchestra). He has since worked with conductor Tay Teow Kiat for over 200 concerts, often as a soloist or lead player, and has participated in several performance tours to China and Malaysia. Tay is also currently an Erhu and Dizi instructor for many primary and secondary schools; his students have achieved outstanding results in various local music competitions.


Ding Huai Cheng

Ding Huai Cheng is currently the music instructor for the woodwind section of the City Chinese Orchestra. He is also a member of the China Musicians' Society and the China Woodwind Music Society.

In 1977, he was admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music and transferred to the China Conservatory of Music in 1980 to further his learning. Upon graduation with a Bachelor's degree in 1982, he remained at the China Conservatory of Music as an instructor, and was promoted to lecturer status in 1992.

Ding is now an instructor at the Shangyin Music School and also for the Chinese Orchestras of several primary and secondary schools. Through the years, his proficient teaching has yielded notable results with the orchestras that he has instructed; the Dunman High School Chinese Orchestra Wind and Percussion Ensemble and the Dunman High School Chinese Orchestra have both garnered numerous accolades in their respective national competitions.


Wang Gui Ying

Wang Gui Ying graduated from the Tianjin Conservatory of Music in 1990 under the tutelage of renowned Erhu performer and educator Professor Ju Wen Yu. She has also studied under other eminent Erhu performers such as Zhao Yan Chen, Song Guo Sheng, Zhang Zeng Liang, Yang Jian, Liu Chang Fu, Liu Ming Yuan and Min Hui Fen. After graduation, she became a professional musician with the Tianjin Song and Dance Theatre before joining City Chinese Orchestra in 1993 as the Erhu Principal player and overall instructor of the Strings section.

Wang is also currently the Strings instruments instructor in Shangyin Music School and Dunman High School Chinese Orchestra. She has also been the conductor and Strings section instructor of Raffles Girls' School Chinese Orchestra since 1996. She is a diligent and meticulous teacher, having nurtured many cohorts of talented students who garner admirable results in national music competitions.

She has held numerous solo concerts in Singapore and has been invited as a guest performer and soloist for many orchestras in China as well as in Malaysia. Her repertoire consists of numerous works for the Erhu and orchestra of which many she premiered.

Her playing has been commended by famous Chinese music critic Liu Zai Sheng as full of passion, and yet elegantly measured, reflecting a thorough grasp of the music.


Tian Ling

Tian Ling was born in 1957 in Chen Yang city, Liaoning province, China. In 1977, she was admitted to Chen Yang Conservatory of Music and came under the tutelage of Li Zong Li in 1980. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in 1982. Upon graduation, she became a cellist in Liaoning Province Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Tian was appointed as cello instructor at the Shangyin Music School in 1999 and she is currently instructor for Chinese Orchestras of several primary and secondary schools.

 

 


Zhang Tian Yun

Zhang Tian Yun has been a music instructor for the Plucking section of the City Chinese Orchestra since 2006. Zhang studied under the tutelage of prominent Liuqin and Zhongruan masters like Professor Zhou Chang Hua and Professor Ling Ji Liang. In 2005, Zhang graduated from the Shenyang Conservatory of Music with excellent results. Zhang is also a member of the China Nationalities Orchestra Society (CNOS), Liaoning Musicians' Society as well as the Liaoning Nationalities Orchestra Society.

Zhang has garnered numerous accolades in national and international competitions. Her works have also received excellent reviews from professionals in the music scene.

She is currently a music instructor at Shangyin Music School as well as for the Chinese Orchestras of several primary and secondary schools.


Wang Ji Ying

Wang Ji Ying is a music instructor with City Chinese Orchestra. She is also a member of the Pipa Research Society within the China Musicians' Association.

Wang started learning the Pipa when she was six years old. She has studied under the tutelage of maestros such as Wang Xiang Hong and Sun Shu Ling. Through the years, she garnered numerous awards and accolades. In 1995, her outstanding results gained her admission into the Primary School affiliate of the Central Conservatory of Music. She then studied under the tutelage of prominent Pipa musician and "Wang" Clan successor, Professor Yi Fan. She was subsequently promoted to the High School affiliate and eventually the Central Conservatory of Music in 2002.

During her years in school, she accompanied the Plucking Ensemble on numerous performance tours in China. She was awarded the Best Performance Award in the International "Long Ying" Cup Chinese Instrumental Competition. Besides participating in television recordings, she also recorded a Chinese Instrumental album in 2005. In 2006, she graduated from the Conservatory with excellent results and a Bachelor's degree. Since then, she has participated in many concerts both locally and abroad as a soloist as well as guest performer.

She is now a Pipa instructor for Shangyin Music School as well as for many other primary and secondary schools.
