The Orchestra Since 1974


        Previous Singapore Broadcasting Corporation Chinese Orchestra (SBCCO), Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) City Chinese Orchestra (CCO) was started in 1974. The Orchestra consists of over 200 members, of various age groups and of different professions. And constantly complimented as “amateur organization, professional standard” by both public as well as other Chinese Music professionals.

 
 

Music Director & Conductor
Sole recipient of the National Arts Council Cultural Medallion in 1993.

         Mr Tay Teow Kiat is the orchestra music director and conductor. He was the sole recipient of the National Arts Council Cultural Medallion in 1993. Under his leadership, CCO has received both nation-wide and international acclamations. Mr Tay is a famous local conductor and musician, and is highly regarded by overseas Chinese Music professionals.

 
 

An Evening of Opera Music

       Chinese opera is another essential key in defining the Chinese culture. This concert integrates the various types of Chinese opera, allowing audiences to understand the individual types of operas and their unique differences in one concert. Through this concert, we would love to let audience understand the different role which Chinese music plays and from there have a unique feel of Chinese music in its many forms.
